Skopelos Town

Skopelos Town has one of the most dramatic approaches in the Aegean. Seven white churches cascade down the hillside above the harbour wall and the town itself, a maze of narrow streets, has retained a very traditional character, with grey Pelion slate roofs, overhanging wooden balconies filled with flowers and a tiny church around every corner - 123 within the town alone!

Boat excursions depart from the waterfront for the neighbouring island of Alonissos, the 'deserted islands' further north and occasionall trips around the coastline.

In the evening you can wander around the many fascinating little craft shops, in particular ceramics and enjoy a drink at one of the bars and cafes lining the waterfront, follwed by a delicious meal under the stars at one of the many harbour side tavernas.

The nearest beach, Stafilos is just 5km from the town and has a lovely sheltered bay and a small taverna.
