The picturesque main town of Skiathos with it's whitewashed houses that run up from the port overlooks the Castle of Bourzi and two harbours: one for the yachts and ferries, the other providing a haven for the fishing boats and excursion boats, lined with open-air tavernas, cafes, restaurants and bars.

The interior of the island is incredibly lush and green, covered with olive groves and pine forests.
