Tucked away in a secluded corner of Megalochori but still within a short stroll of the village centre, Villa Io provides privacy and the ideal hideaway.  Built into the volcanic rockface, the villa once served as the school to the local children.  Today, the interior is a monochrome white throughout with beautiful arches – the quintessential Greek Island home.  The outdoor space is private and the hand laid cobbled courtyard is perfect for lazing around the glistening pool.

The layout of the villa is typically traditional of Santorinian houses.  The floors throughout are polished cement covered with rugs adding a cool, sophisticated air to the interior.  With the village of Megalochori being famous for the production of Vinsanto – a sweet, dessert wine, this theme is continued with many of the light fittings being fashioned out of the basket-like vines.

The farm-style kitchen is large and fully equipped with an antique dining table and ornate, original dresser.  The original double wooden doors open up into a single bedroom which also contains asteep staircase leading up to a delightful sleeping loft – the ideal den for children – but best suited for those over 6 owing to its fairly secluded spot within the villa and the steep staircase.

Through an arched passageway from the kitchen is the comfortable living room which also has doors leading out to the courtyard and pool area.  Doors also lead from the lounge to an elegant double bedroom.  The shared bathroom has a large shower, marble vanity, beautifully restored features and a separate WC.

One 5 seat car (third party insurance and unlimited mileage) only is included within the prices for this accommodation – parties larger than 5 will be required to hire an additional or larger vehicle at a supplement.  Also included are a daily refresh housekeeping service (2 hours) and full concierge services on request.  The villa is reached on foot along a footpath – just a few minutes from the closest parking area.
