The beautiful village of Megalochori makes a welcome and peaceful alternative to the busier hilltop towns of Oia and Fira and the increased number of people who visit them. Protected from the strong Cycladic winds, the traffic free winding lanes of the village all lead to the village square with its picturesque churches and venetian bell towers. The Stone House Villa can only be described as the jewel in the crown of the village.
Tucked away, yet still in the heart of the village it is just 150m from the village square. The name of the house is derived from the local volcanic stone which clads the exterior.
This newly renovated property – originally a “Canava”, was once used to produce the sweet Vinsanto dessert wine for which Santorini is famous. Two cylindrical troughs, once used in the distilling process, have been preserved to make unusual interior light features.
The enclosed cobbled courtyard area has a private plunge pool which also doubles as a Jacuzzi thanks to massage jets to one side. The villa has one open plan room which serves as a sitting room and bedroom, with a small kitchenette to the front of the property. The spacious, Moroccan style bathroom boasts hand-crafted brass fittings and has a stone banquette and large shower area.
One 5 seat car (third party insurance and unlimited mileage) only is included within the prices for this accommodation. Also included are a daily refresh housekeeping service (2 hours) and full concierge services on request. The villa is reached on foot along a footpath – just a few minutes from the closest parking area.
The Stone House Villa is a perfect getaway for a couple that are looking from a small, traditional and unique Santorinian property in a beautiful location
