Built in 1878 and giving the villa its name, this traditional and graceful 2 storey villa is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Megalochori.  The origins of the building have been sensitively retained in the restoration with the original structure, layout and traditional features remaining.

Mansion 1878 consists of 2 self contained self catering properties with a private pool and both are tastefully decorated throughout with traditional furniture.  From the village square, a winding footpath leads to the mansion giving entry into the large cobbled courtyard containing the private pool.  A stone stairway leads to the first floor where there are large terrace areas with panoramic views over the village.

The upper property consists of a traditional kitchen – well equipped with modern appliances, which leads into a large dining room.  The original wooden floors and vaulted ceiling add warmth and character to the property and the room is perfect for both relaxing and entertaining.  A comfortable lounge area adjoins the dining room.  The spacious master bedroom is bright and airy.  A carved stone staircase leads up to a private landing and the second double bedroom.  A full bathroom services both bedrooms.

The lower floor once served as the wine cellar and workshop of the mansion.  Carved into the rockface, every detail is unique and filled with character.  Three large barn-style doors lead from the cobbled courtyard into the property’s various living areas.  The well equipped central kitchen area leads into a beautifully lit dining area and living room on one side, and at the opposite end, a spacious area allows for 2 double bedrooms with a shared dressing/sitting area.  The shared bathroom has a large shower, seating area and large vanity.  A few steps away from the lower property there is a further double bedroom with en-suite shower room.

This property would be perfect for a large family or group of friends who may require 2 independent properties that do not compromise privacy or comfort.  A total of 10 guests can be accommodated in this mansion. 

One 5 seat car (third party insurance and unlimited mileage) only is included within the prices for this accommodation – parties larger than 5 will be required to hire an additional or larger vehicle at a supplement.  Also included are a daily refresh housekeeping service (2 hours) and full concierge services on request.  The villa is reached on foot along a footpath – just a few minutes from the closest parking area.
