Lakka has to be one of the island’s most treasured gems – an aquamarine pool fringed by terraces of silvery olive groves.

Waterside bars jostle along the stone-flagged quay and at night their lights reflect in the calm waters of this delightful little harbour. Three enchanting squares lie behind the promenade, each fringed with tavernas, bars, shops and one with a traditional Greek Kafeneion.

Further restaurants offering a wide variety of excellent cuisine and small shops can be discovered in the picturesque, traffic-free side streets of the village.

Turn your back on the beautiful blue waters of the harbour for a moment and explore the tranquil olive groves, surrounding hamlets, beaches and headlands of Lakka and the magic of this island becomes apparent.

Two pebble beaches around the western edge of the bay offer ideal sunbathing spots. There is sand underfoot at Harami once you get in the water - a rarity on Paxos!  It also shelves gently into the sea so it is popular for family holidays to Paxos. At the head of the bay is a small pebble beach at Kanoni.

To reach the beaches east of Lakka, it is best to travel back inland along the asphalt road then branch off down one of the many beach tracks.
