The south coast is a succession of dramatic cliff-backed bays: the maze of rocks, caves and inlets of Kleftiko, formerly the lair of pirates, is where provotas is situated. You can experience tangible proof of the islands volcanic past as warm bubbles drift up from the sea bed.
A small resort, 9km from Adamas offers golden coloured beaches with gently shelving water. There are three tavernas and a bus service.
