Sami
Sami is located on the eastern coast of Kefalonia, and is the second largest port in Kefalonia. Set amongst the most dramatic scenery, the vibrant town is surrounded by pine clad mountains.
Sami has a long waterfront, with plenty of tavernas where you can sit in shade and watch the world go by whilst enjoying a cold drink or sampling the catch of the day.
Sami is where most of the filming for Captain Corelli’s Mandolin was made. Behind the main front area of the town there is a maze of tightly packed streets with charming houses and gardens full of flowers in blossom.
Above the modern town lie the ruins of the ancient city of Sami, here you can wander among the ruins and explore the site of The Monastery of Agrillion. There are some amazing attractions near to Sami, including the Drogarti Caves and the Melissani Lake.
The transfer time to Sami from Kefalonia airport is around 1 hour 15 minutes.
