Originally built in 1800, this lovingly restored house is located in the centre of the traditional Cretan village of Melidoni, which lies midway between Rethymnon and Heraklion and 4km from the National Road. 

Villa Arethousa has retained many of its original features, including the wooden floors and lovely stone-arched fireplace, enhancing the traditional feel with antique furnishings such as the wrought iron bed frames, whilst   incorporating every modern amenity for a truly luxurious holiday.   In addition to the main villa, there is a small and completely separate annexe for two, ideal for teenagers, or those seeking a little extra privacy. Outside, the beautiful swimming pool is set in its own spacious terrace and surrounded by flower-filled gardens and lawns. 

A car is essential.  Melidoni itself has a mini-market and two very authentic tavernas in the village square, but the nearest town, Perama, is 3km away. The closest beaches, both sandy, are Bali (9km) and Panormos (10km).
