In the heart of lively and bustling Corfu Town, tall Venetian buildings surround a green esplanade where cricket is still played on some afternoons under the shadow of an ornate bandstand. Along one side of the esplanade runs a long vaulted arcade. In these idyllic surroundings is the Hotel Cavalieri.
The Hotel Cavalieri enjoys an uninterrupted view of the sea over to the Albanian coastline and an unparalleled vista over Corfu Town and the ancient fortress. Originally a 17th Century nobleman's mansion, the building was partly bombed during the second world war. The original walls and facade were retained when the hotel was created in the late 1960's. Recently renovated, the hotel now offers single, twin and maisonette style rooms - a total of 50 rooms.
Public areas are beautifully decorated with fine imported fabrics, giving the impression of a sophisticated country house. A cosy bar is situated at the far corner of the drawing room under an imposing original Venetian mirror.
An new addition to the hotel is the roof terrace with its breathtaking views over the rooftops of Corfu Town. Each evening, snacks, drinks, light meals and ice creams are served.
Bedrooms are comfortably furnished with bright chintzes, traditional furniture and have colour TV, air conditioning and private facilities.
The Hotel Cavalieri makes a welcome change from the modern hotels and is perfectly located within Corfu Town to act as a base to explore the whole island.
